Firefighters are responding to a two-alarm outbuilding fire in West Minnehaha, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Fire crews were dispatched at 10:45 a.m. to the 2900 block of Northeast Cherry Road for the report of a structure fire.

A second alarm was issued shortly thereafter.

The initial crew to arrive in the area said they could see smoke in the distance but were having issues accessing the property. Firefighters used a nearby residence to find their way and quickly found an 20-by-20 foot outbuilding engulfed in flames, according to the scanner.

The fire was not threatening nearby buildings, according to the scanner. Extra water resources were requested to the scene, but additional engines were apparently not needed.
